This was written by deVine Darkness from a challenge phrase by DreamEvil I no longer know that woman I see in the mirror, staring back at me she’s not someone I would like to know her eyes are shaded by a haunted glow I ask her "who am I, if I'm not me" she looks back, eyes empty makeup on, hair done, time to go the facade complete, everything just so. Her friends never hear her sighs of regret that is something they will never get and they will never really see the woman in the mirror, the real me |

Lady deVine, I do not believe that could ever fail to rise to the challenge and prevail. Very well done, my friend. ------------------ Shall I indulge in flights of fancy hampered by clipped wings? DreamEvil© |

Very powerful piece DeVine One. A person who paints himself to others specifications can no doubt become quite alone even trying to keep an eye on their true self. You captured this well. Michael |

How well I know this, saying and doing one thing while feeling another. The facade of an angel on the outside, a heart like stone inside. Yup, been there. *sigh* Good'un I.Skye ------------------ "I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than to be crowded on a velvet cushion." .....Henry David Thoreau |

I know the feeling well-how can others ever truly understand who we are inside? Sometimes it's just not possible... ------------------ *Elizabeth* "Dwelt a maid belov'd and cherish'd by high and low, But with autumn leaf she perish'd, long time ago..." |

Yep, I too can relate PDV...This other 'me' in the mirror is an enigma, even to me... Only, I couldn't have expressed it so well..Thanks.. ------------------ "No one was ever ruined from without; The final ruin comes from within.".....Amelia E. I'm another who can relate, Ms. deVine...sometimes no one ever sees who we truly are..exellently done. ------------------ *Krista Knutson* I see the world through the loving eyes of my heart, and suffer the pain of unfulfilled visions. -- Daniel L. Miller |

We all wear masks, and rarely allow others to see what lies behind them. |

I love the imagery you use in all your work. This could be myself before my own mirror. Thanks for your words. Jenny |

Great poem. I believe that the mirror is the only friend (or enemy) that will tell us the complete truth of what were are. The mirrors see all....and reflect it back to us. ------------------ "Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage." -Billy Corgan- |

A certain member will never let you see this side of her-except through me...I am all the darkness she could find inside of her. I am the real her-and believe me, she truly isn't someone you'd want to know either. Witch's Brat [This message has been edited by Witch's Brat (edited 10-03-1999).] |
