I’m wandering
in a twilight world
of warming love
and sticky
bloodstains
that won’t wash away
in the cold
spring rains.
In the distance comes
the soulful cry
of a mourning dove,
grieving as I do,
for a new-found love.

The memory of his kiss
still lingers
on my lips
along
with the sweet taste
of death
that came
with each breath
I took of him.

How can the Dark
be so attractive
to the Light?
Do I really love him?
I’m afraid
I just might.
My life he did save,
from the emptiness
of the grave,
and delivered to me
The pleasures
of the Night.

How did we meet?
The club had closed,
where I
was wandering,
only heaven knows.
Hearing echoes
of footsteps,
I quickened
my pace.
Suddenly desperate
to get back
To my place.

Out of the alley,
ahead to my right,
darkened figures came,
stepping into
the light.
In panic
I froze
as they reached
for my clothes.
No mistaking
their intent.

Out of the darkness
came a blinding
flash of night,
in terror I cowered,
opened my eyes
and beheld
a horrid sight.
Tall and dark,
he tore them
limb from limb,
I knew not then
it was him.

Blood-soaked and wild,
he seemed
a ravening beast,
turning to me
with eyes almost mild
and a sliver of smile,
he turned
to continue his feast.
I let out a gasp,
more like a rasp
and let
darkness
claim me.

Since that night
of terror and delight,
he’s slipped
under my skin,
into my dreams,
he is with me
every night,
in my thoughts
it seems
I hear
their screams
as he
avenges me.

What
impossible love
this is,
the height
of my desire
is a Vampire!

Wow DE...love this one..almost reminds me of a vampire I read about years ago. Excellent Darkness.
