FORGETTING

Many things in life I'd be regretting,
If only I could stop forgetting.
But that doesn't seem so hard to swallow,
When you realize the world is hollow.
So as memory slowly slips away,
I toast to celebrate my own decay.
Virgin lips given the golden chalice,
Impregnated Hope soon meets Malice.

Caught in my teeth, I squish the worm,
Still in my mind I feel it squirm.
That face that never disappears.
That cry that never yields tears.
That hope that lingers in the chest,
A dream forgotten as all the rest.
That never mistaken sensation
That only comes with alienation.

It probably wouldn't seem so ironic,
If I didn't feel so catatonic.
Watching the clones day by day chasing
The idle dreams of their own defacing.
And inaction wouldn't seem so drastic,
If this world weren't completely plastic!
But who am I to second guess Sorrow?
I just may remember tomorrow.

So that's what poetry is.

I toast to celebrate my own decay.

Have a drink on me, M.
For that matter, have one with me.

Great, Michael.

Been there before squishing-grinding the worm in my clamped teeth. But I tried to forget, while with every shot downed, I would remember so much more.
This is so heart-felt, and very good. It flowed together perfectly, like tequila and lime!
Good good, yes yes!
