The sound reaches his ears And he moves toward it instinctively It fades into view, Bright horses on golden poles Children laughing The whirling notes shimmer As they stretch out their hands To grab the ring Leaping high, their nostrils flaring The horses rise and fall with amazing consistency, But the children fail to notice their efforts Their eyes are on the ring. Through many generations the horses have given all, To gain the attention of even one small child; Timeless folly Only now does the man cease his labors, His pursuit of the ring, And admire the horses for their pains. He looks more closely... Even though their paint is cracked and dull Their legs are strong and tireless. His eyes mist over and he turns, Back to his job For the ring comes on Friday. D.B. |

A timeless folly... the child in us all should experience. I love merry-go-rounds. Love good or bad is exactly that. Well Done. Happy that he will get his ring! Jenny ![]() ------------------ Love is an attempt at penetrating another being,But it can only succeed if the surrender is mutual. |

Amazing piece, D.B. I feel I am caught in timeless folly even as I write this. Michael |
