The Promise of Heaven

With morbid anticipation
I wait for Death.
However eager,
I shall not sacrifice
life so dear.
I yearn for the promise of Heaven.
There, were all is right,
perhaps the girl of my desire
will love me in return,
just as I love her in this life
and assuredly will in the next.
