Crackling through undergrowth of "love"
camoflaged in "security"
eyes dark with cunning
he stalks his victim.
Armed with the gun of confusion
loaded with pointed words
each a chosen bullet
the best to maim his prey.
A strangled yell from afar
is her only warning
as that caring onlooker
can only watch
powerless to intervene
yet hopeful she will flee
as he reads the sign
"Soul Hunting Season"
