My venture to the dark is very well lit. I stumble not of stones of ire, pain, or death. My path to the pit is cleared of debris. I boldly stroll forth unafraid and unhindered. My journey to this place is unfettered by strife. I wince at the pain kindled by the light. My travels to dark passion thwarted by good thought. The nocturnal refuge subverted by day's glow. My eternal quest of gloom stalled by enlightened hand. The bitter twist of black coffee diluted with cool milk. Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn. JP |

Enjoyed reading this. Love the choice of words, and the ending wrappes it up in a nice sort of filisofical way... Good work -nando- Ask me how to live your life, and this to you I´ll say: make your choises true and wise, so that when tomorrow will arise, you´ll smile at yesterday... |

Okay, I was waiting for some replies to see if my metaphor was too obtuse... I guess it is. I know that mostly when I write about coffee, I am speaking of coffee, but in this case I was speaking of something else. Anyone care to take a stab at it? actually from the first JP I assumed this was about the dark forum not being *DARK* enough...hence black coffee diluted with cream! Am I correct? H |

Give three gold stars to Menage! Rarely do I ask anyone if they understand my meaning behind one of my works - I've always felt that a poem has a plethora of meanings, dependent upon the reader. Naturally a poet knows (usually) what s/he is writing about, and too often that poet can get personally offended when a reader imposes thier own meaning on the work... I try not to do that (although I do, sometimes, get taken aback when someone writes "I know just how you feel, I hope things will get better...". It bothers me more because of the assumption that my poem is a reflection of my life's circumstances or my emotional state...) It is never a bother when someone tells me, "That poem spoke to me", or, "Somehow you put into words how I feel", or similar comments... Oh hell, I'm rambling again... that happens to me once in a while. Suffice it to say that I was lamenting the "Up With People" aura existing in Dark Passions lately - a place I thought was designed for the darker side of poetic endeavor. I suppose the moderators have set the tone they deem appropriate for their forum and I should learn to love it... hmmmm... doesn't sound like me now does it?< !signature--> Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn. I understand what your saying, and I hope it gets better. hahaha But really, yes the tone as of late has been ?? not in the darkly passionate corners of the soul. I also wish more could be expressed along the lines of ?? a good dark rich espresso Joel. I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |
