This is a well known poem written by an unknown soldier who died from wounds in battle, it was found on his body. I love it and it has helped a little when I've lost a loved one. Just wanted to share it with you all.. Print it out, have it on file.. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there I do not sleep I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints on snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle Autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there For we never really die.... I'll tell you this...... No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn..... ~Isis~ (Goddess - Sovereign of the Spirit) |

~Oh Isis,...thank you for posting this. I will and am going to print this. I think it's helpful like you said to think of this at difficult times...when dealing with such a thing...which is inevitable. So, thank you because during these painful times any bit helps....this is such a great expression....great thought...whomever the author is. God Bless him. Take care Isis...thanks again. |

Oh Spitfire so glad you liked it. I was grieving and a friend gave me the poem in a lovely little book, just that poem. Now I print it out and decorate it up in my print classic and send it in the mail along with the sympathy card. Christians, Jehovah whatever, may not actually agree with the theory, but still love it as a comforting thought. Then somehow the death seems to have a little more purpose, our loved one is part of the beauty in this world, as they were a beautiful part of our lives previously. So pleased you like it < !signature--> I'll tell you this...... Isis..I had not seen this work before. I thankyou for sharing it with us, it is an amazing work, thankyou again! God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me. ~Unknown |

Back again, lol, sorry for my being missing, anyone who missed me. I loved this poem! I have that title in the back of my mind. I recall hearing it somewhere, but I just can't put my finger on it! Don't you just had that?!?! But, yes, this was a magnificent poem, and who wrote it is unimportant. About the matter of authorship, I personally believe that a poem is meant to be explored and experienced, not to be disected and cut up. Of course, I'm still in highschool and have not yet experienced the so-called Real World, which everyone tells me is hell, yet.... |
