III She stared at me, most shrewdly, then, with oddly calculating gaze. "Why, love!" exclaimed my lovely wren, "I've searched for you nigh all my days!" I marveled at this fragile thing, in moonlight pale, in garments strange. My heart sought hers-- began to sing-- my mind, however, seemed deranged. For surely I had not heard right. The wind, her voice had made awry. No one had sought me any night, and yet she sensed my question, "Why?" "Tell thee, I shall," she whispered sweetly, "A quite long tale it is, my dear. Another night--" and kissed me neatly on the cheek... and disappeared. Into the gate, and gone from sight she quickly went, and left me under vampire moon, in demon's night which, soon, would shake my heart with thunder. Who is she? I would ask the moon on many nights, alone, and with her. What is the fate that begs me soon to leave my soul for her to wither? In deepest night, with palest stars, in blue gray hues, I was unmanned. Yet every night, I kept her far from where my bloodlust took my hand. She saw it not-- I would not waste my dove for my own fiendish ways. I struggled from my vampire self to taste her not. My darkness came not near her days. I'll tell you now, the story that she whispered to me long ago. A lovely, terrifying tale we see now that the Fates bestowed. |

Marvellous! I love vampires! Have you read Tom Holland's vampire trilogy? It's bloody ('scuse the tacky pun!) good, in my opinion. Uta Lotharingia "Wir wollen nicht Wert und Sinn ... wir wollen Unwert und Unsinn" Raoul Hausmann |
