Lost,
turning endlessly
in nothing.

Syrup minded,
lethargy and sloth
slowing the soul.

Absence
creating a labrynth
of my heart.

Passion's
deflated retreat
leaving want.

Inspiration
on my periphery
won't come.

Desperation
seethes mindlessly
yet impotently.

Poetry
the saving grace
waits patiently.

(Note:  Hey y'all! It's been months since I have been around - hopefully some of you may remember me.  I hope I can post some work of value that will explore my absence, get me back on the right track...  JP)

How can someone successfully write a poem about writer's block? What sublime irony!

Thanks all for the kind words.  I am slowly regaining my poetic footing - though it is damn hard to create inspiration.  I suppose I just need to put my nose to the grindstone and write whatever until a glimmer of something salvagable floats to the surface.

Okay... back to reading... Per Poet de, I have thousands of posts to catch up on.

Poetry
the saving grace
waits patiently.

A wonderful poem, I agree it "is damn hard to create inspiration" though it appears more than is created. It has certainly arrived for you and given you the power to write this wonderful poem.

Then work came and made us free
What price now for a shallow piece of dignity"
