II

We walked a while. She softly spoke
of nights alone, long, lonely nights.
Her love had drifted like soft smoke--
he lingered, then was gone from sight.

I chuckled then, as I recounted
no such tale of loss deserving
love returned, but sadness mounted--
this, to her, should be unnerving.

For she had smitten me, this dove,
this shining, strange, entrancing thing.
Why, I had fallen quite in love!
She'd taken me quite under wing.

We stopped outside a gated yard,
and strange, her eyes shone seeming light.
At thought of my departure, hard
fell tears of sadness and poor slight.

"I fear that we are not the same,"
she sighed, and put her arms around me.
And then she spoke such chilling words
as I had heard, to quite astound me.

"I am not as you are," she cried.
"I am not an eternal soul."
Then, sadly smiling, "No," I sighed.
"But somehow you have made me whole.

For you have found me out, I fear,"
I told this strange and lovely bird
"I am a vampire-- yes, my dear!
I do not dwell upon your world."

What? Think you, reader, that she was
the very thing you fear the most?
Yes, I am what you hate-- now does
that change the story of your host?

... continued tomorrow ...

You certainly know how to weave the words. I will be watching out for the next part!

God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me. ~Unknown

Pray please tell. Oh whitchery of words.

Joel.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.

Such a captivating story you tell.  The twist of plot was quite unexpected, at least by me.  I'm going to definitely look for the continuation.
