On a night when mist rolled through the sky
cov'ring tree and clouding ground,
I wandered, all alone to cry
'til sunshine crept to wake the town.

My mission on these lonely nights
was simply to be left alone.
Ignoring-- perhaps tempting-- frights
which prowl for some unwary drone.

Drone? Yes, I was a mere machine.
Alone, forsaken, and forsworn!
No "gladness" I had ever seen
could make me feel less so forlorn.

Then, this night, I came around
a corner, on a chilly street
and met a woman, smiling down.
Quite pleased, she seemed, for me to meet.

And strangely garbed, this beauty was,
in cloak of manly shape and style.
Her gown beneath, to this day, does
cause cheek to blush, but lips to smile.

"Well met, stranger," she breathed, and sighed.
The air warmed strangely when she smiled.
"A goodly cold we have this night--
pray, will you walk with me a while?"

I tipped my hat, smiled in return,
Enrapt to see her smiling bloom.
Her dainty arm felt warm-- nay, burned--
But I was caught. For Bliss, or Doom.

... continued ...

I've always loved a good mystery. I'm very impressed with the rhyming scheme, it flows very well. I simply cannot wait to see how this unfolds.

I like the start of this one, Kid. hahaha

Joel.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.

I quite agree with the above. Often stories in verse are really tedious, but this one has me gasping for more
