The sun is shining brightly The birds are singing The day is peaceful At least for this small moment In seconds the peace will end The street will fill with people The birds will sigh The sun will hide Because on the ground there is a hat A little boys red and black hat Around the hat is a pool of blood His forgotten bike lays on its side The colored boy lays limp and motionless He wore that hat because it was his favorite He didn't realize it was the wrong color At least where he lived it was He didn't see the boys with the gun He didn't know what he had done wrong His mother comes to weep by his side She can't understand the injustice He was only a little boy, after all Just a boy wearing daddies hag His dad died as a police officer He had worn that hat to the ball games The ones he and his son went to together The boy wore the hat to remember him If only he knew it was the wrong color If only color didn't matter If only they realized he was only a boy If only, if only But now it is all said and done Color matters and nothing else Sometimes when you live where he lived Nothing matters, just the colors |

Sweetthing welcome!! Sad to see stuff like that, living in Australia our gangs are nothing compared to the Us's. A sensless tragedy indeed, how I wish the world could unite and end all racism for ever... Maybe one day. Great work I'll tell you this...... No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn..... ~Isis~ (Goddess - Sovereign of the Spirit) |
