In waves the thunder rippled overhead Threatening to drown a man dead. The clouds were swept along like sea foam & the sky flashed like gleaming chrome. The lightning came down in flickering lines yellow, bright electric vines. I sense the chaos of an oncoming storm. The windpicks up,the air chilled,no longer warm. The trees begin to dance, the flowers sway in trance. One last heavy gust of wind making grasses bend. Then a calm, quiet, silence before the storm sets in. Weather vanes go out of control & spin all the world's trouble converge in a defening manner pain & misery come down like a banner. It makes me happy to see the world crash &crumble in a lightning flash. I find comfort in the thrill as all the evil from above begins to spill. ...........I'm only happy when it rains.......... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ i hope i haven't posted this in here before!! And there she weaves by night and day, a magic web of colours gay.~Tennyson |

Where I am, that's all it has done the entire weekend. I like the rain, but enough already. Great poem, lovely, flashy pictures of ligthning and all that spare electricity winding you up like a coil. Storms are so exciting. |

Great images! "gleaming chrome... electric vines." You captured the building of a storm very well. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not but the rhythm of the poem really reflected the rhythm of a storm. It's not always a constant build up. This is simply wonderful. I, too, am happiest when it rains. |

I am also happiest when it rains. Especially summer rain... lightning is exciting and delicious when it's hot outside. It helps the flowers grow, too.... Portia |

Very nicely crafted poem this. I agree with gothicmoth you captured the feeling well. I really fell right into the atmosphere you created. I love storms too - loud thunder cracks, flashing lightning and torrential rain - and the pure ozone and smells from the earth and nature after - beautiful! |
