The puppies all pretty, bald and blind like hideous creatures of an aborted mother: She sat down holding her severed gut, hours without amusement in clinic setting, eternally sterile, eternally depraved No shells are saved. Time passes on the cat clock, sanity is only kept by tuning her organs: percussion in a heart beat, drumming as the pale white infants are cut open on “clean” metal tables. They pry into, tease inside inside of you they steal your soul. Rapists started the trend, all females should learn to defend and not just let all things be. Cats for queens, and prevention for our kind. Doctor, oh Doctor I love to see those mutilated forms, the bodies stripped down and reconstructed more efficiently than ever. I see sequences moving, I see the mothers grooming the extracted foetus, and I know (in a lie) that this is pure, that this heavenly endorsed. I know in my heart that this is right. Repeat, again and again: I know in my heart that this is right. In a real mirror I know it’s depraved. Cats for queens, all lost puppies, but what is there for me? < !signature--> ------------------------ "Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too? this is very powerful writing Brian, and I dont think its "too extreme" for DP... one of your strongest and best writings as well. intense images and emotions, on a subject that will never stop raising questions and causing controversy... this one is a doubled edged sword as it envolves both religion and politics... the two rarely mix ... "Rapists started the trend, all females should learn to defend and not just let all things be. Cats for queens, and prevention for our kind." ------------- and I know (in a lie) that this is pure, that this heavenly endorsed. I know in my heart that this is right. Repeat, again and again: I know in my heart that this is right. In a real mirror I know it’s depraved. Cats for queens, all lost puppies, but what is there for me? --------------- most thought provoking indeed... as always your poetry challenges the reader... its one of your gifts later poetic prophet jm Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme, They are not measured by the commitment of time. Some emotions run too deep to be described by words, Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard. ~Janet Marie~ "What the caterpillar calls the end ... The world calls a butterfly" ~Lao Tze Tao~ ~Butterflies are meant to be free~ |

Some of your phrases are really thought provoking. I don't want to be stupid, but my curiosity is getting the better of me. First I thought this was about abortion, then I re-read it and I decided that it was about test tube babies, or genetic engineering. Now, I re-read it again and I have a mental picture of war. Which, if any is correct? I look forward to your reply as I am so curious to know what scene you are painting here. |

Jana, I enjoyed your interpretations. I believe that the reader's thoughts on the poem are as valid or even more so than the writers, but seeing as you liked my essay on the Manics in the prose forum I will tell you. Only kidding. ![]() It is a strange poem in the respects that I did not set out to write a poem about abortion which for me is what the poem is about. I had the title which I am quite proud of, from that came the image of the puppies which when new born look a bit like those photos you see of foetus'. So it sort of developed from there. Also at the time I wrote mainly dark poems, really gothic. I wanted to see how far I push the images disturbing even myself sometimes. Thanks for your kind response and for reading the poem. ------------------------ "Here chewing your tail is joy" Richey Edwards "Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints.
