I lay here tonight, bottle in hand Of me I ask, What kind of man? Need to drink just to last the day Know one day I'll be called to pay The pain and sorrow, they've come back again Oh why, oh why, please! Someone explain Just when I think I've got it right I get knocked down, have another fight The past is past but I can't move on Try as I might, can't find what's wrong So deep and dark, the depression comes Lost and alone, I can't find the sun The battle raged, It seems so long I can no longer sing the song Can I go on? Is this life a mistake? Give me courage for this life to take ************************************************* My first post in Dark passions, it didn't seem appropriate for open. Not all those who wander are lost. ~J.R.R. Tolkien |

I like this. I've struggled with the bottle in my lifetime too and I know the dark and mysterious passions of drinking and the lowly depths we sink too in the midst of letting it take control for the evening. |

painfilled poem here Eagle... i know all to well how our pasts can haunt us. I try very hard to not let it own me... I refuse to let it (and them) take all of me. I dont want to let them win, ya know? I hope you are venting in poetry and not as lost as your verse, but I understand. keep writing, it does help heal. take care, please. jm |

Eagle* Your words are like drops of ice water....It hurts knowing that you went thought one moment like this. I am comforted to know that this has passed and that now you able to look back on it and write of it and have the courage to live on. This was a very powerful piece my friend. Hold me for yesterday Kiss me for tomorrow But love me for today. |

Brian....It would be all too easy to slip down that path, and on occaision I have come close. Janet Marie.....the past can indeed come back to haunt us, and like yourself I hate to lose .Don't worry! I am just venting here though i have been through such periods. life goes on, however difficult and unfair it seems at times. I have much to live for these days. Butterfliy....it would seem I am lost for words alot lately. Your strength, support, and friendship are an insperation to me my friend. I have some thoughts on the idea of "courage to live on", ...mmm...perhaps another poem! To all, I thank you for taking the time to read and respond, take care! Well EagleOne, welcome to dark passions. and yes this indeed is a dark poem, one that does belong here. and yes I have traveled this road also. it stinks. haha on your last stanza line, "Give me courage for this life to take" I had asked for this strength so many times, I've tasted old blue, but I guess I found the courage is in the living not the dead, like you did. Good luck in all. I checked out you web nice. as is this poem. Joel. I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |
