My heart said to me,
My Mum won't mind,
And me Father won't curse you,
For your lack of signs.

Then he stepped away from me,
And this he did say,
'It will not be long love,
Till our wedding day!'

He stepped away from me,
And he moved on down the lane,
And fondly I watched him,
Try to ease suffering and pain.

And when he went away homewards,
Escorted by the evening star,
And the birds flew home to rest,
I watched him fade to afar.

As he faded from sight,
He turned back to me,
And flashed a loving smile,
His eyes smiled too, so sweetly.

Now people were saying,
That the two never wed,
He was filled with sorrow,
Took his life, that he was dead.

And that was the last,
That I saw my dear friend,
I had not realised,
That he'd met his end.

I dreamed of him the other night,
That my true love came in,
So softly he entered,
His steps made no din.

He came right beside me
And this he did say,
'It will not be long love,
Till Our Wedding Day!'

He confused me I admit,
For I wasn't the one,
But I was pleased to see him again,
And so sorry his world had come undone..

ANOTHER ADAPTION OF AN OLD CELTIC TRADITIONAL SONG

This is very touching, Isis.  So sweet, but yet so sad to meet such an end.  I love the part about the dream.  Those we love never die as long as their memory remains.  Great poem!!

A spector in the day.
and a very nice poem, I do love the way you put thoughts to pen, kid.

Great moving piece Isis, well done. People come and go throughout our lives, but some will always remain in our hearts even though they may not be there physically any more. Thank you for sharing this one.
