HOPELESS

When hope is gone, does love remain?
Standing alone, enthralled in pain.
Shear agony wrenching the heart,
Tearing your life, your will, your world apart.

When hope is gone, what takes its place?
When you close your eyes but still see that face.
When you talk to someone who's not there.
When hope is lost we find despair.

Secondary emotions assigned by grief
Command attention, bring no relief.
Reflect a dark, withered pined soul,
Bereft and stark, emptied, unwhole.

A tainted image, a glossless shine.
Memory the door, morality the shrine.
Submerged in anger, helpless to fate,
When hope is gone love seems a lot like hate.

Michael Anderson

For all behind was dark and drear,
And all before was night and fear.
How many hours of night or day
In those suspended pangs I lay,
I could not tell; I scarcely knew
If this were human breath I drew.

Lord Byron

you bleed with poetic grace in this one M,
hope is all we have...reason to rise...
but when we are tired...it does feel this way.
Though I try real hard not to hate love...
just the parts that hurt...
sometimes Im even grateful for the hurt...
at least Im still feeling something.
I know...you know...quiet comfort.
later sweet poet friend, jm

 It's amazing
How you make your face just like a wall
How you take your heart and turn it off
How I turn my head and you lose it all ...
And it's unnerving
How one move just puts me by myself
There you go just trusting someone else
Now I know I put us both through hell ...
I'm not sayin
That there was nothing wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me
And I'm not sayin
We ever had the right to hold on
I just didn't wanna let you get away from me.

I think when hope is gone everything's gone.
And "When hope is gone love seems a lot like hate.", that is so true. Don't lose your hope, and don't lose yourself, we need you here.

Yours truly

Your words ring true Michael, but never give up hope, the tide turns it does, if you don't believe that, it will NEVER turn. *hugs*

Serenity, I'm glad you liked.

Janet - I think I have no alternative other than to hate at this point.  There's only so much deceit and betrayel one heart can take.

Broken, all hope is gone at this point - but I ain't going anywhere...LOL

Isis, where do you find hope for the hopeless?

Swåmp¤Faerÿie, Thank you, and I am so glad you are spending more time with us here in Dark, also.

Nathan, I am sorry if this relates to you on a personal level...  but I am glad you liked it anyway.

Thank you all for the kind replies.

Michael

Ahh my friend, your words speak of my own heart. I do not know what is left when there is no hope but I can not hold on to hate. There is just nothingness for me and the need to sleep.

Fine work as always Michael.

Love is always there, it just might be hidden for a while.
Sometimes we are so blinded by hurt and anger, but once we let go
of that, love will resurface, along with hope.
Excellent and well expressed Michael.

Again Michael you have described my life two years ago, I had given up hope in all things. and I danced with lead on my pearly whites.
When hope is gone, you can use it as a cocoon, thinking deep, wrap your self in tears, eventually drying, to bring forth a great butterfly, the world has never known.
Hope may fly but keep the faith.
Joel.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.
