Want to be alone with you
Want to make the whole world simple
Just because it's hard with you.

Cannot remember the words I used
to tell you that I was leaving you.
Don't remember the look on your face as I turned away.
Can't remember what it was about you that made me angry
Can't remember why it is I couldn't stay.

But is that reason enough to pick up the pieces?
Reason enough to try and make another start?
Reason enough to be the surgeon
Trying to cut out the rotten part?

I don't believe in any of that anymore
Don't believe in second chances
What's a second chance for?

Believe me I'm hurting and wanting for sure
but nothing hurts worse than to hurt then hurt more.

~I have to say..nice expression. I truly enjoyed reading this poem...I've read it quite a few times now. I'll be honest,..I'm still trying to figure out why you left and why you don't want to remember why...I think that says lots...I close things out of my mind and as far as I'm concerned they never happened...and I'm wondering if this is what you're doing here...it's probably not healthy...but here,..now I'm rambling...you hit this one with me....Take care.

Wow, you hit the nail on the head. Many times recently I have found myself in the very circle you describe so very well. I have chosen to avoid the downward spiral he called love and can tell you that it becomes easier. My heart goes out to you, my friend/partner in recovery!

Dance like no one's watching.
Love like it's never going to hurt.
If it does hurt, shoot em! <Grin>

I guess I don't believe in second chances myself.
I had tried that and with disasters results. this poem is very heartfelt.

Oh my gosh you almost put me in tears my ex-boyfriend Grant made me feel the same way. I really know what you're feeling. I can't give you advice for recovery cuase I still care for him deeply and don't know why. We are still friends and we still talk and we said we would never go out agin and I think it's better that way. N-E-Wayz sorry to ramble this is truley one of the most touching poems I've read. Keep writeing.
