Author's Note:  A lot of my poems involve nature, as I am an avid nature lover.  Usually it inspires me positively, but occasionally when I am depressed, nature nourishes the darker emotions.  I wrote this one a few years ago, on an especially cold winter day.

          How Chill

How chill, the winds of wintertime;
And, oh!  How hard they blow!
As, o'er the dying earth, they spread
A shroud of fallen snow.
Unseen, the bitter breezes rage;
And, yet, across the land,
All nature bears the ugly mark
Of winter's cruel hand.

How cold, the wind of loneliness -
How mournful is its call!
An anguished cry, it echoes through
The canyons of my soul.
Invisibly, it buffets me,
And chills me to the bone.
I hear its voice, within my heart:
"Alone," it cries, "alone..."

enjoyed the read...
and was grateful its April
take care, jm

Is it too much to find an answer,
Is it too much to hold you close.
Is it too much to find a reason,
Is it too much to free my soul --
From self control ...
And I know you're always waiting for me ...
You take me far away,
And I know you're holding me ...
And it's better now ...

You may write about nature, but it also reflects your soul, and the way it feels.
In it's beauty, and heartfelt feeling.
Very chilling, great work.

Troy,
Very chilling writing.  Got a blanket, my friend??  Can relate to this one very much.  Feel that way myself at times.  You write beautiful poetry, my friend.

Troy~
This made me a little dpressed when I read it so I've replied with this

Winter time doesn't have to be dreary
Nor do we have to feel so weary

It's cold I know and also wet
But the fire is cosy and the mood is set

Lay back and relax have a drink or two
Watch the fire burning in front of you

It's warm inside but cold out
That's what winters all about

So rug up tight and don't catch cold
Winter can be fun   so I'm told

Hope you like it

~Troy~

The rhyme, the flow, the comparisons and the words that you use are perfect.  The reader certainly feels the chill of the winter and the lonliness and emptiness that it brings.  Excellent piece!  I often feel this way, especially in the depressing winter.  Well thank God that Spring has now arrived!

Take care,

This is an awesome poem...so descriptive of the winter days. I too am a nature lover,it's like it's almost a necessary part of me =] Every winter i go into a black morbid mood, but instead of being depressed in a bad way,i'm depressed in a good way....which sounds funny, but in winter my depression is some kind of morbid stronghold i can't explain.....but i love this poem....it's reminding me of my winter personality now that it's spring here. Again,BEAUTIFUL imagery....i love it =]
