MY LAST CHANCE RIDE In an ol' room Surrounded by frowzy air A glen o' gloom An' ever so rare Th' stunnin' bloom O' th' blissful insipid glare In th' flickerin' light Shinin' teardrops fall t' th' floor Another soulsearchin' candle-night Touchin' my heart t' th' core Feel like such a stinkin' blight A drab an' obsolete bore Time, it's rollin' by like trains Takin' me on my last chance ride Runnin' away, but th' tears left stains I'm diminishin' like th' tide Limpin' down th' trodden lanes Seekin' a little place t' hide Undeterred by th' frightenin' thought An' th' laughin' behind my back I detest Mislead by whatever I one time sought To far away from home I've begun t' nest Sullen an' miseducated by your froth I turn t' you fatefully, but leavin' me a jest Oh dear God, forgive me please For wastin' my life, on th' love I try t' catch I got an achin' disease A tickle in my head I have t' scratch Tryin' so hard t' find my peace I only find pieces I have t' patch For many hours I've been up Wonderin' far an' wide Climbin' th' same ol' wall, never reachin' th' top I Can't find th' meanin' o' life, nor a place t' hide I'll just keep on livin' th' days till th' hurtin' stops I got no more t' say I'm just a tired man, finishin' my last chance ride |

I liked the ?? in-between words, what you didn’t say and yet said it all. I guess the meaning of the spirit behind the writing. Joel |
