TOMORROW

Don't you know you can't stop tomorrow?
You can't hold back the hands of Time.
You can look into my eyes and see forever,
Or you can look away by the wind's chime.

But you can't drink the same cup twice,
With the water tasting the same.
It ain't worthwhile to wonder why.

Could a heart be so strong,
To take this pain, this losing game?
Would it be wrong to break down and cry?

Cause you can hold on to a heart from yesterday,
But you can't hold hands with the hands of Time.
And you can't make love to a memory, don't you see
My love will never die.

Don't you know you can't stop tomorrow?
Her flow of sands, her hourglass of lies.
A songbird sings, a songbird preens,
Ever wonder what it really means?
Does he sing the same song when he flies?

Look up in the sky, the sun is shining bright.
Still, some never see the light.
Open up their hearts, there's pain,
There's never-ending rain.
Still you wonder why the weak will never fight.

Well don't you know you can't stop tomorrow?
You feel it coming closer, distant bells cry.
The wind blows silently,
But the cold will chill you violently.
My love will never die.

Now I know that Time can't stand still for me,
Just to find a future the past won't deny.
Tomorrow holds the key,
Will fate bring you back to me?
Or will the sun even find her sky?

Cause girl when I close my eyes you're all I see.
Girl, when I think you're all that's on my mind.
Tomorrow holds the key
That opens up a destiny...
It's time to leave this world behind.

Because for me I know there's no tomorrow,
The hands of time just won't unwind.
I'll just close my eyes,
Maybe then you'll realize...
My love will never die.

No, my love for you will never die.

Michael Anderson

For all behind was dark and drear,
And all before was night and fear.
How many hours of night or day
In those suspended pangs I lay,
I could not tell; I scarcely knew
If this were human breath I drew.

Lord Byron

Nice poem Michael.  It is so true not being able to hold back the hands of time and no matter what love will go on.
Could that be why love can be so painful? Or do we ourselves cause our own pain? Like the song goes "You get what you put into it."  But that is still hard for me to believe.  Because I dont think we all deserve everything that life or other people deal us.
Once again a lovely poem

Peace

I do not love you for being perfect.....
I love you for being perfect for me!!

This is quite a poem, my friend. I liked the way you formatted this one, it lends to the piece I believe. It has been my experience that Love endures regardless of the sands of time, whether left unspoken, or hidden.  It also fights back like an alpha female wolf when you try to supress it, lemmetellya.

May I never be too busy to help another's load,
Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed.

A glimpse of a positive Michael...
i liked this a lot...
tremendous insite for all of us...

If all was light...then I would have never learnt the dark...from which such truth evolves
from which evolves the light...

Dark_kisses_Within, Are you referring to that kid Rock song?  God, I love that song... but I don't think people always get what they deserve either.  I do believe "true love" never dies though.

Satiate, this was actually a song I wrote many many years ago.  I think I was just having guitar withdrawels yesterday... LOL
Love endures all, you are right there... God help the fool who tries to supress it...

Avanti, Glad you saw the positive in this.  I really tried to hide it this time, ya know...

Thank you all for the kind replies.

M, I LOVE THIS!!!!!
the whole time I was reading it I was thinking -- this reads like a perfect love song...then I saw your reply saying it was...
WAY COOL...I would pay money to hear you sing it...(smile)
what would it cost me??
perhaps another poem...(smile)
take care, jm< !signature-->

...when you walked into the room, I saw their faces,
you made it feel like time was standing still...and I felt fascination...
then you turned and smiled in my direction...
and my heart...gave me away.
