How Do We Learn to Love....... We experience it first as a child so small Our parents take charge of our care They'll always be there when we call And their love we will always share Then as we grow we love our friends But in a different kind of way Their loyalty on which we can depend To see us through each day The more we grow the more we give The more we want to feel It has a bearing on how we live And what we believe is real Then as an adult if we've learn't well This love we give to a mate It's not something that we'd sell Not even for the highest rate It's a special gift from one to another Just remember from whence it came It was given to us by our mother This is the woman we can blame The problem comes if when one so small This gift was not imparted For now when it comes to give their all They don't know how it's started No maternal dependence as a child Has left them quite bereft No-one cared if they just ran wild Or if their dinner was always left It's hard to cope with love for another If the love wasn't given to you If they never felt it from their mother Then what can they be expected to do Love will come that still is true The feeling will be strange You won't realise what's hit you Until your life feels re-arranged That's when this unnatural fear kicks in A fear that you cannot hide It puts your head in a total spin And gives you feelings you can't abide You see a Mothers love teaches us how to be Dependent but still a person too And not to let us only see That our life as us must be through We can be in love but still be free To do what our head thinks fit Sharing with each other is the key For making this alliance a hit It's a difficult concept to explain To those who have not been taught For difficult emotions will remain And not the one's that ought They're drowning in a sea of control They've lost their body and mind They can't remember what is their role And their sanity feels hard to find But it's not a battle and not a war That they have to fight to win It's what we were all put here for And to learn they can now begin A frightening feeling if new to you This love thing must seem to be But patience will finally get them through And in time they will surely see You really can't be loved too much But sometimes that's how it must feel Reach out and feel her tender touch And know that this feeling's for real It's not a thing to be feared or lost Despite how it may seem But kept no matter what the cost As now you're part of a team It should not stop you fulfilling All your ambitions goals and more Your partner will be more than willing To help you open another door So tell her how you see your role In the things that are yet to come Don't be afraid to give your soul And let her know she's the one For that's how it started it's not just fate And it's how things were meant to be From a Mother's love until you take a mate It can't be simpler believe you me So try to learn to give your heart And ask nothing in return For this will be the very start Of everything that you yearn Don't be afraid and if it's real Tell your mate for sure She doesn't know how you feel Unless you tell her more Then try to think of an easy way To work these feelings out Both of you can have your say There's just no need to shout If you decide to leave and try again After a while you'll see its true The same old fears from way back when Will return in time to you But given love, care and thought You'll see this is really great In time you'll see it as you ought And you'll have found the perfect mate! Sandra x This poem is dedicated to a man who is still very special to me and whom I 'loved too much'. I just wish we could have dealt with our insecurites and our pasts then and worked things out. I think we have dealt with them now, but is it too late? With Love xx |

James is right...only he can tell you that. But if what you feel is true...then there may be a way. Whether he realizes it yet or not. Just remember to keep faith...but learn to let go when the time comes. Great poem Sandra. Thank you Angel and James for those kind words, you're right only 'he' can answer it, I guess I'm too scared to ask the question! I think I know what his answer would be. Sandra x |

WONDERFUL POEM! i also agree only he can answer that question...i also feel that maybe showing him this poem will be a way to open the door for the answer...sometimes we may think we know the answers to our questions and we avoid asking them so as to spare us more pain, but i have also found out that many times the answers we get are far different than we thought. holding on to a question can often bring us more pain than the answer. take care, Broken Wings "As you learn and grow, you will realize the greater the pain, the greater the growth." -IYANLA VANZANT |

Well I took all your advice and sent this poem to 'him'. I have not heard a word so I guess the answer to the question is yes, it is too late!! Thanks though for giving me the courage to try. His loss!! Sandra x |
