The Snowflake A snowflake cradled in his mother’s arms said one day of the world down below, “why he remained with his mother, when all his friends had left?” She said unto him “That the rest had left long ago to visit the world, so different than their own, a cloud” His mother held him tightly, and drew him close to her bossom. She held his hand, and said to her son “Never leave my side” The bond and love between them, the warmth that binded them together was strong, but the lure of the city lights was too great an adventure for this little snowflake to ignore. One night as his mother slept He quietly left his mothers embrace and glanced down at the City below. The wind whispered words that only a child could understand, to lure the little snowflake away from his mother’s protection. The wind had said “ That his friends were waiting for him down below” His mother awoke to find her son no longer with her She called out to him “Where are you, are you hiding?” She smiled as she thought that he was playing a game of hide and seek, but it soon became a frantic cry. The jealous wind was heard to laugh, “your son is no more” There she saw her son on the ground below, his flakes beginning to crumble, his imminent demise, the fading sparkle. The love of a mother for her son, was too great, but rather than remain alone on the cloud and to live and know that she left him to die, she took a leap of love and joined her son downward way. She cursed the wind, and said “ I pity you, for you may be more powerful than I, but you are without love, and thus without life and power” For a brief moment, they spent together; she drew her son closer. She smiled and gazed lovingly into his eyes, and kissed his brow. She asked him not to be afraid and that all will be well. He closed his little crystal eyes, and so, she softly whispered stories of great snowflakes in the sky, until they each melted away. ‘For this was not the end, but a beginning, a new journey...’ Love is the most powerful, enduring, and eternal force that if we are touched by it, it changes us forever, even if it lasts for only an instant!” I’ve never wrote anything that was so moving as this, its left me with a lump in my throat! |

Awesome!!!! This was very touching. I loved the way you used snowflakes to convey love and the bond between a mother and child. Joy |
