                 I Know You

You, the one with the kind words

Only to take them back at the speed of light.

You, with your smiles and tender kisses

Only to transform them at the blink of an eye.

You, with your hugs and “ I love you”

Only to take them away at my first mistake.

You, with your mind games and power plays

Yes, I know you

You are all the same.

You are a fixer

You need me to feel weak.

You can’t bear seeing me try to stand on my own two feet.

Your eyes can’t take the glare of my shining smile.

Yes, maybe it is my fault

Maybe I got you addicted to fixing me

Maybe I called out your name too many times from the grave.

But let me make something very clear

I may have a weak soul

But I have a strong mind.

A mind that no matter how hard you try

You will never break.

I may not be able to fly

I may have already forgotten how

But I will always be able to push you away.

Yes, I know you

I know you well.

Excellent! A great poem BW...and shows much inner strength.

you express your self so very well...your words are so simple and yet so full of emotion that they raise off the page.
great work on this...stay strong
take care, jm

 and you can say baby...
baby can I hold you tonight
maybe if told you the right words...
at the right time,
you'd be mine...
baby can I hold you tonight...

Excellent job.  I feel your feelings totally.  Don't let go of the strength...it allows you to carry on.  I think we have much in common.  Feel free to e-mail me if you would like to talk.

BW,
do you know the song that is your name?

"Take these broken wings
And learn to fly again, learn to live so free"

You say a lot in this poem, but I know that one day, your wings will heal again. . . the power of your words sings like a mournful song in the night. . .excellent. . .

This is an amazing piece, I'm touched by the words and the feeling that you have written it with and by the pain and past that have effected you to write this but most of the the strength that you have to take those feelings and look at them long enough to write with them.   Thank you for sharing this gift of release.

Whatever strength I add to myself becomes my greatest weakness, while whatever weakness I'll consciously endure will be replaced with a strength that is not my own.
