I walked into the dark
a place I prefer not to know
It cloaks my heart
My thoughts become muddled
in confusion’s grasp

Things I thought I understood
are now raw and foreign
I’d really rather be anywhere
but here.

Like shattered glass
the pieces fall
Each striking hard
Slashing yet another piece
of my soul.

With shrill cries
I sob my last heave
of emptiness from
my wounded chest

The question rakes
like hard edged nails
across my mind.
Do you care?

Such a powerful image! This is wonderful Kim. Definately one of your best!

kim, very good...your angst and pain drip in this...so well expressed.
take care, jm

 and you can say baby...
baby can I hold you tonight
maybe if told you the right words...
at the right time,
you'd be mine...
baby can I hold you tonight...

Silence in response to such a question is painful where-as silence shared with someone...well that IS entirely different isn't it?

Thank you all for your comments on this.

I really do not know where my mind travelled, but it begged me to go.. and this is it's outcome.
