The road to nowhere

"The road to nowhere"

Light were your eyes, as light as a feather,
More days pass as I walk on the road
That leads nowhere, that leads away from home,
There is no backwards trail although I wish.
The pond contains some catfish,
The dam is nonexistent, water no longer streams
As I carefully plant a foot on a few rocks
That were once submerged by a stream,
And my father waves at me.
My sister looks at me, then looks at the rocks,
And I see the trees swaying,
They flutter and yet I hear nothing,
But I certainly hear the drip of the sand
In that hourglass that traps me.
An eagle, ruling the majestic skies,
With talons razor-sharp swoops plunging down
From forever up to forever down,
Perhaps to catch a rabbit
And the eagle casts a swooping shadow
As it obstructs the sunlight against my eyes,
Oh, my eyes which suspect nothing,
While I dream forever of tomorrow.
Hope shines brighter than the star of morning,
I know God is with me, he loves me.
Forever.
As the day turns to ashes.

I like this, it has it's own little life to it, like a safe haven from oneself.

Thank you both kindly. It's based on a real memory. I wrote this in all caps originally. Just fyi. : )
