When I saw you, I forgot life,
your face was mythical-
with understanding it looked,
eternal grace laid upon your face;
I am but mortal, not divine,
but your face sent a thousand oceans falling
from the foundations of the earth
upon my soul, as you looked upon me,
o but that was so long ago, my friend.
People would laugh at me,
but you knew what they were thinking,
they cursed you for being righteous,
for you were perfect, my friend.
No one on earth is perfect, but you were,
my friend, why did you have to die?
You were always there for me,
you had the heart of a baby, blue and true,
yet your mind was ancient with wisdom;
where are you, my friend, why did you die?
You looked after me like a brother,
you were so compassionate, hating nothing,
yet you were confused, and you hurt for us,
o why did the tears have to fall?
You spoke no lies, your words were so powerful,
people stared after you in shocked silence,
in their heart they laughed a sea bitter,
for they were green with envy and corrupt;
You were the infallible, always bearing,
you humbled yourself, you held your hand out,
you let yourself be seen weak,
as the people cursed you for being strong.
I hold you in memories that shall never die,
for you were my one true friend.
