How many times can I kiss you Before the dream is over? I don’t want to believe my eyes As I look over my shoulder Now that I’m over you I can finally say I was wrong, a fool you knew, But look at me today It was a certain kind of thing And a flash in those eyes That gave this mortal joy To have set foot in paradise But in this world, now is the rule And you were the exception It no longer chokes me up to say That for a while you were redemption None of that applies to us now Fondness remains; love scatters A love that will never really die, but, None of that matters |
