This is based on Native American Mythology. The Wendigo is a spirit that inhabits the woods of the northern US. It is considered to be a harbinger of death, much like the Irish banshee.

Wendigo Scream

At the forest's edge she stands
In the place where shadows creep
She has heard the horrible cry
Frightened, she begins to weep

Hiding her face in her hands
She hopes it was just a dream
But she knows the spirit well
She has heard the Wendigo scream

Lifting her face to the sky
She pleads with the gods of light
"Don't let this happen again"!
"Let no one be taken this night"!

Above her the sky turns dark
As the nightwind begins to stir
Treetops sway in eerie rythym
Her gods do not answer her

Dropping her head in sorrow
She breathes a pain filled sigh
Her fingers clutch at her hair
As she wonders who will die

The shadows begin to lengthen
And she turns to leave this place
But again she hears the scream
And her heart begins to race

She tries to run from the spirit
But she cannot find her way
The path is swallowed in darkness
As her sight begins to fade

Once graceful legs now stumble
And her arms hang limp by her side
She falls to the ground in terror
Searching for a place to hide

As her heart begins to slow
She suddenly understands
She is the chosen one this night
To die by the Wendigo's hands.

At the forest's edge she lies
Wondering if she will dream
And as she breaths her last
She hears the Wendigo scream

I was in awe when I read this the first time from your website. This one was written very well! (It is good to see that you put a brief explanation above the writing so that others may comprehend more.)

 you're really alone at last...
you're bored and fading fast,
if it's true you'll fall from the past
all you'll have to do is ask
you'll feel but never be
you want and always need
price you pay for wanting to see
will you have all you've ever dreamed...

Great use of a myth. This will keep me otu of the woods at night for a while. excellent work.
