             Illusion of Sanity

An oasis or an abyss, whose mind of darkness knows?
The outcome is remarkable, A love you cannot show;
Midstream in my sorrows, A steady flow of tears;
Sudden laughter, wildly calm, Serene of all my    years.

Masters of touch, well learned deceit, depends on those who teach;
Who searched the passage for a soul that you can  never reach?
Who took the pain? A secret weakness of my rising power;
Marked by self-acceptance, returned to save the hour.

Walls growing by the wayside, no impossible game;
Nightmares of gracious guilt suffered by those in shame;
I felt the icy cold when I touched my deepest low;
Left the seed of my own fears to fester and to grow.

I came upon the widow's web while you became entrapped;
No exit to no entrance, How could I find my way out?
I swallowed the bitter tree, prepared for my chosen hell;
Pathetic horror of a world, Stripped of those who fail.

Shadows falling in your mind, Are you watching for release?
Careless freedom was given to the crying heart of me.

Sanity is illusion, I completely agree. This poem was deep reaching - right into my own "chosen hell" if you will. Very good work, Flame. Welcome to Dark Passions, hope you will stay with us here awile.
