Brazen whips society wields It seems their assault never yields Rules, Regulations, Conformity They must exert their authority Originality is put to rest Conformity is what they Like Best *~* The whip cracks as it hits his back But he will survive their attack Be laughs at them despite the pain And assures them originality will remain He boldly looks them in the eye I hear him say "Conformity?- I'd rather die" ~*Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a tear*~ |

Bravo, let conformity die should be for all the battle cry but society plays its boring game us all to look and act the same Nice poem. Stay the course and you will make discoveries that few conformists would ever dream. |

To me, life is about NOT conforming, for conformity is simply doing things to be part of it all rather than what you feel. Never be afraid to dance in the rain, stand on a mountain top yelling with joy and do crazy things. That is what life is all about. Well done !, Paulsm Slow Down, stop to smell the roses and stroll through the garden of life, it will be a more pleasurable experience. I think of you always Honey XXXOOO. |

I agree and disagree. While I certainly stand outside the realms of "normalcy," I understand other's need to feel they belong. Some aren't able, or just don't want to, stand outside the circle of societal standards. I think it becomes a personal choice... coming down to just be yourself. Don't fight the grain if that's what/who you truly are. Don't stand outside if it goes against your nature, just out of a desire to spite what happens to work for many people! On the other hoof, you can't beat dancing in the rain wearing nothing but your underwear and a pair of socks! |

Thank you all for your comments This has always been one of my favorite poems ... Christopher, I suppose it would depend on your personal definition of conformity, but to me not conforming has always been being true to myself whether I am living up to societys standards or breaking away from society to do what I feel is right for me... ~*Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a tear*~ |
