As I walked alone this morning
I glimpsed a lonely vision
A woman in black and flowers of grey
She stood and spoke with her eyes
And somehow touched my soul
For I trembled at her terrible smile
A knowing look as she opened my mind
Then I listened to my heart instead
She beckoned me to follow
With no sound from those lips
That parted only for awhile
What form of madness could this be?
What temptress drifting before me?
Does my sight deceive,
As with a wink of an eye,
She vanishes into her world

It takes time to catch my breath
And suddenly a wind blows
Bringing an ethereal frost
I bow to my knees to pray
For the return of my lady in black
She came out of nowhere
And in such a brief span of time
Like some magical spell
I have become transcended
To a higher consciousness
Though I know not who she is
Only the knowledge of understanding
A certain unspoken bond
This dark spectre with grey flowers
I rise and pace the misty fields
A blind man who sees into himself
I look up and behold a morning star
And stop only to make a wish
Stumbling over rocks in the gloom
Civilization seems as if a dream
Eerie world is real but dead
And has somehow forgotten me
With a last sigh of desperation
I come upon my lady in black
From nowhere again to return
She is placing her flowers
Upon a stone, grey upon grey
Her back is to me
And her stance is slightly unfamiliar
The wind whips around my ears
Echoing voices all in warning
I should have listened to the chorus
But curiosity is the root of mankind

I therefore pull her by the hand
White and cold as death
She turns with tears streaming
Down her beautiful pale face
Her eyes stare deep into mine
Down to the base of my soul
There is no more communication
Only tears as she turns to stare
And I follow her gaze
Upon the stone the flowers bloom
A bright shade of all colors
Becoming a rainbow in front of me
Below them upon the stone
Are words carved in memory:
My name I see, and then,
I finally understand

YOU are SO deep, you make my head hurt..
the imagery in this is brillant and haunting...reading this was like having a nightmare in Panavision with Dolby sound.
excellent, again...jm

When you see through love's illusions, there lies the danger...
And your perfect lover just looks like a perfect fool
So you go running off in search of a perfect stranger
While the loneliness seems to spring from your life
Like a fountain from a pool.

I'll try not to hurt your head...LOL
You reminded me of Spinal Tap the movie, when they said to record in Dolby, but they pronounced it, Dublin. Anyway, it was funny.

Wow. What a vision. Wonderfully worded, beautifully thought out. Here's me in awe.

i love the way you force my mind into this dark world you create.  i love being there and walking along with this person, maybe even feeling as if i am this person.  its amazing how vivid the picture is that you paint with words.  i love reading your work.  thank you so much for writing this.
