This poem, like my last, is my way of dealing with a recent breakup. I hope you like it. If you read it and you're a member, it would mean the world to me if you left a memo for me--even if you JUST say "I read it." Thank you, Eli. *Dedicated to Beth* Love’s Negative Affirmations The way I felt when I met your mom. The way I felt distraught. The way I use to hold your hand And hope to not get caught. The way your family took me in And treated me as their own. The way you waited for me at my house Until my homework was done. The way your family greeted me When I entered your humble home. The way you spent every moment by my side So you wouldn’t be alone. The way your cousins would jump on my back. The way they gave me love. I truly felt they were a blessing from God. I thanked the Lord above. The way you felt in my loving arms When sleeping on your floor. The way you woke me with a kiss; That feeling, I will always adore. The way you told me everything. The way I knew it all. The way there were no petty secrets. I knew all you said and saw. The way I could always be myself; I never had to feel shame. The way we always recovered from fights. In the end, we were always the same. The way your smile lit the room. The way your eyes would glow. You always knew just what to say, Which is why I love you so. All the above I took for granted, And, now with grief and despair, I finally realize their importance to me Now that they’re not there. -EMG 02/10/2000 [This message has been edited by EMG (edited 02-12-2000).] |

Eli, this is a very beautiful poem...its so hard to let go of these things...but most times if we're patient and trust ourselves...we will learn from this kind of pain...and it makes us stronger and wiser for the next time...and I promise you there will be a next time for love. In the mean time...keep using this time to write this amazing poetry...and let the writing help heal you. take care, janet marie ...found your heart-then lost your lover...licked your wounds then run for cover... take your time...there will be another... and dont make the same mistake twice... unless you can pay the price...
