PASSIVE SCREAM If the world were to take me into its arms, Would I embrace it? If it opened its soul to me, Would I understand it? Pain and sorrow fills the air. Too many of our young souls Must grow up so fast. Too many of our earthen souls Must give up all they have. Chaos and riots fill the streets. Too many violent souls Have taken over our cities. Too many greedy souls Have taken over our economy. If our world collapses, Who shall survive? If our society is demolished, Who too shall die? How long until we've had enough? How long until it stops? How long until the passive scream, "We have had enough!" |

I bet a lot have had enough all ready. All we have to do is band together, (those people) and get the others to come around too, and make this world a better place. Ah, but that is easier said than done. Isn't it? |

Very valid questions of the times in which we live. I kinda agree with Joy- i think by ourselves we feel our efforts are insignificant-unknowing of just how many people feel the same way. we have the power to make the difference if we can pull together. like Joy said, easier said than done. i guess the key is in the meantime, we do what we can when we can-to make a difference in one life-no matter large or small-is a wonderous victory. O.K.! Enough rambling from me already! well done here LB. |

very nice work, speaking well to the issues of our lives today. asking good questions...the answers that we all search for...cause we have had enough. take care janet marie ..."when you walked into the room...I saw their faces--- did you know--you made it seem like time was standing still... and I felt---fascination...though I only knew you then--just casually... then you slowly turned and smiled in my direction... and my heart gave me away".... It seems that this country is on a runaway train, and the ultimate destination and pending tragedy is unclear. Can we survive?? Those who care, feel, love and dream about a peaceful, fulfilling country where there's no hunger, violence and selfishness are the one's who suffer the most over the way that things are now. Not sure this makes much sense, but you sure got me thinking. Good poem. DH |

Thanks everyone. Isn't it a shame that a ten year old poem still applies today. |
