~Innocence Interrupted~ Innocence interrupted, childhood stolen away. Rituals of Immorality... Even an angels wings fray. Dreams fade into shadows, Promises lost to living a lie. For the Sins of the Fathers... Silent tears wont testify. Trust no longer knows definition, Boundaries are crossed then broken. Who cries for the children... When the unspeakable ... is left unspoken. Secrets concealed in shame, Unravel the ties that bind. What becomes of a Mothers Love... Once denial makes her blind. Innocence Interrupted- A life's future to reclaim. No longer keeping silent... Survivor is my name. Janet Marie **this poem is inspired by and dedicated to a very special friend, who lived this pain...but found the strength to "rise above it" and reach out to others who are "voiceless victims." It is dedicated to anyone who lives with abuse, of any kind. We must not close our eyes to what is too painful to look at...as our "blindness" allows it to go on. Stay strong, Take care, with respect... Janet Marie Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme, They are not measured by the commitment of time. Some emotions run too deep to be described by words, Forgiveness and understanding- remain the most beautiful words ever heard. Janet Marie |

this poem spoke to my soul. i was abused as a child. and i will never forget it. i had no childhood. i had to survive to live. it was rough. *starts to cry* great poem. tell your friend that she is not alone. i must go now cuz it is getting hard to see through the tears. keep up the good work. I wish the world wasn't so messed up that we had to write these things. But poetry in itself gives me a little more faith in the way things are. Jannel |

thanks to all who have encouraged this poem, Jannel, you made me smile...thank you I was torn about posting it as I didnt want to cause anyone any pain...but I have learned thru my own personal experiences from my childhood and most of all from my friends lessons...that we must share and speak up...to be heard...to heal. I know these kinds of subjects are hard...I know it is easier to "scroll" on by...I use to be the same way, so I understand, and its okay if you dont know what to say...but sometimes just knowing someone else understands...just knowing someone else has been there...is enough to help another get strong and start some kind of healing process... Jesse, I'm so sorry for your pain...I am very moved by your reply to this, and I greatly respect your courage to share your pain...I was inspired to write it by my friends amazing courage...and I knew it must be shared with anyone who could find strength in it...I hope it did that for you...I decided to post it when I saw a poem by "childomine"...her courage in sharing...helped me to know I should...I thank her for this...I hope she sees this. I have been touched by so many amazing people in here...I thank you all, for that take care, Janet Marie Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme, They are not measured by the commitment of time. Some emotions run too deep to be described by words, Forgiveness and understanding- remain the most beautiful words ever heard. Janet Marie |

I think innocence is the worst thing to steal from a child....so sad. Excellent poem on a tough subject. Denise |

A graceful dedication on an anguishing subject. I have seen the effects of this sad and angering story on two of my cousins. I can't imagine how hard is to find the strength to get through it. And it breaks my heart to know that so many children suffer this way. Being a mother I just cannot even begin to comprehend what would cause a parent to do this to their children. All I know is that they have a higher judgement to face when they leave this life. Justice will be served for God's children. |

janet... that has bought me to tears here in this net cafe..and i just don't feel like stopping... silent tears... it's hard to bring out these things in the open and for you to write on it is such a beautiful gesture... i know a lot of survivors...who will thank you in their heats for this... Wow Janet! Everyone says that....it's better to get it out in the open. *smile* And maybe it's true. From one survivor to the next...It sure seems like a struggle to me. Carman |

you guys-ALL- are SO amazing...thank you so much for the support, Jesse...*hugs* to you too(smile) as Danni & Avanti pointed out...seems like we all know someone who lives this pain...or we are living it ourselves, it happends much more than anyone realizes, its a cycle of hurt that continues on in generations. The cycle can only be broken when someone helps the survivors heal the scars(as much as they can be)... I wish I had the answers, I wish I could do more than write a poem...but my friend taught me that somtimes one gesture of understanding can make a real difference. Avanti, I cry with you,... to both you and Armanca... thank you for your words and understanding...together we find faith and even hope...most of all we find the strength to heal, to go on. take care, stay strong Janet Marie Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme, They are not measured by the commitment of time. This is a great dedication!! It is sooo sad the horrible things that happen in this world!! I always wish I had the power to end it all!!! Thank You for giving others a voice to their pain!! Janet Marie, This poem grabbed me in a hard way being a "survivor" myself. Mo one seems to cry for the children and many times the curse falls to them generation by generation. Perhaps one by giving public awareness we might make a difference but for now it's something that happens way too often in way too many homes. Powerful words you have spoken here. An excellent poem. that's very nice, I wrote one in the open forum called "A mother's sin" about my own childhood events, maybe I should have posted it here, it would have been more readily accepted, very nice though! |

I never got to this one before tonight, and with tears in my eyes I know you have more knowledge of life within to share, and I feel very proud and honored to be able to read it. Your responses back to people are poetry in themselves Janet Marie, and you dear lady, are a very special icon in these halls of blue. |
