Once upon a time
I met your voice so sweet
And as time went along
Our gentle lips did meet

The feelings of that day
Impossible to explain
I love you oh so strong
Everything you've attained

Patterned days I spent with you
Cherishing the comforting tone
Soon I became dependant on you
No longer was I alone

I based everything around you
Building love with each new day
Tears ripped from my eyes
When it came time for you to say

I have to leave now - go away
It is the best thing for me
Please don't cry - I love you
But no longer you I'll see

Distance killed my life right then
Priorites smashed my fate
We all want what we can't have
That fact I've learned to hate

Im lucky if I hear from you
Calls come like chocolate cake
Depression eats my weary heart
I have no reason to wake

Everday since you went away
Is a new cut of lonliness
People find it hard to see
How I laugh at happiness

How sad-
the loss of love is never a happy thing. Great poem though. I didn't quite get the chocolate cake part though.

I know this feeling!! You kind of begrudge other's their love, for their's is good and yours is not.
But I will add, love for those involved is never boring!! Well done

Kari...not boring..very good poem, sad with loves loneliness, but still an emotionally full poem. take care, janet marie

They are not measured by the commitment of time.

First of all, this was anything but boring. And I confess, I feel this way too. It happened such a long time ago...and yet I still yearn for him...it feels as though when he left, he took my heart with him. And in my clouded memory, I am not sure whether he left or I left. But either way, my heart is with him, in his care. Thank you for bringing these splendid memories back, although they are tinged with pain, I need to remember.

I feel this way too...although I left him. It is still the same feeling, oh what one would do to have the happy times back. Thinking of him may bring tears but they have happiness in the dark depts...you will move on maybe you will still cry over him, just like I do...
