I RIDE Forest echoes bestill my heart. Alone, and thoughtless I depart. The prancing stallion hones the reign. Riding toward another love's disdain. The sunlight drifts toward the horizon. A death even Loneliness relies on. Liquid gold distilled from The very heavens at eventide. As foretold destinies collide And even still, I ride.. Time cries from shadows, Silence nodding. Darkness uncovers Misery, applauding. Shades of gray creep through the night, Inspired Agony taking flight. Religion borrowed, Credence shunned. In solitude, startled and stunned. Honor lies deposed with Shame In the casket of Pride, Dream's, insolently set aside. And even still, I ride. Passion holds the night's last star. Hiding it in the form of a scar. Too tender to touch, I watch it fester. In the riddle of a jester. Through the maze of Nature, burning, An ever consummate soul in yearning, The winds blowing in Iniquity, Fresh off Malady's tide, Apathy and Malice abide. And even still I ride. Oh, the horror that befounds me. Oh, the image that astounds me. Lifeless, hanging from the trees. Infested, crested with disease. A man of God, the claim of heaven, Branded forehead, triple seven. Satan laughing, quipping, quaffing Hideously at his side. Alas it seems Virtue has died. And even still, I ride. Lightning shrieks from malevolent clouds. As one by one all I love draw their shrouds. As next of kin and Reality affix 'Tis I who shall ferry the Styx. Carrying hope to the ill-stricken. Stirring the blood, watching it thicken. Languoring in the ashes of the duly misapplied, In the fetal embrace of children who never cried, The insipid wake of hell on earth Growling, ungratified. Even still, I ride. |

You have such a way with words and setting the mood....very powerful piece - deep and powerful.....I can't get your poem out of my head though...."More..."....it's still my favorite....Tough one to beat. I dug all the way back to the last page for this one...and it only has ONE REPLY???? It certainly deserves more, so here it goes, back to the top. ------------------ "Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage." -Billy Corgan- |
