They flow like a river meeting the sea So smoothly leaving their trail behind From which they came. Their taste is salty and bitter, Seasoned from hurt and pain. Their taste is sugar and sweet, Seasoned from happiness and joy. They come from your heart, Where your emotions live deep within. Sometimes never to surface, never to been seen. But still they flow. They come at night, in the darkness Never to allow you slumber. They fall so softly upon your pillow, Only to dry leaving behind evidence Of heartache and pain. They come when you smile, Laugh and rejoice. Shimmering in the light. They fall ever so gently, Leaving behind evidence of peace And tranquility. They are tears. |

Aah... the many reasons for tears. It's been awhile since I have shed a few for any reason. Not sure if thats good or bad. But anyway, very nice piece. |

This is so beautiful. I taste the salt of tears alot as of late! Thanks for sharing your talent!! Jennifer Lee Love is an attempt at penetrating another being,But it can only succeed if the surrender is mutual. |

Thanks Danni and Jennylee. My first posting in this forum. Jennylee - Just know that when the tears cease, and the storm clouds go, there will be sunshine that will welcome and brighten your days. Danni - It's a good thing!! It's only a bad thing when we allow ourselves not to feel anything at all!! Thanks you two!!! |

I find it weird that we cry at happiness and sadness. I love everything about crying myself in all its emotion...... Wonderful poem I'm glad I did not miss it......Bojopy |

Bojopy - In the beginning I found it to be weird too, but now I know that tears mean so much more.... I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for compliment and I'm glad you didn't miss it either. FreeByrd - Thanks for the compliments and I knew, from your writings, that you would catch it halfway through. |

Very nice poem. The way you described tears was nicely done. There is a dream inside a dream. I'm more awake the more I sleep. You'll understand when I'm dead - B. Warner |

Excellent poem, Shirleeah. As a child raised believing "Big Boys Don't Cry" I always saw tears a weakness growing up. I sadly learned later the damage such a conception really is. Indeed, tears are a cleansing of sorts to the soul. A very necessary releas of emotion. I've never cried when I didn't feel better afterward... Good job. Thanks Michael and ChainedAngel! Michael - I know what you mean, but I was told that crying was a form of weakness. Any pain I felt, whether physically or emotionally, I was told to suck it up and deal with it. Well, like you I learned that tears are just another way of cleansing and releasing not just pain but joy! Just think when we cry God collects our tears and uses them to cleanse us with! |
