Too loving, too trusting. I gave all the bills in my pocket And containing jacket only to find, friend lied. Behind my back she hocked it. I wanted nothing. In her demand She asked that at work I fudge, To be less than I am. I can’t give less than a hundred. When is a friend a friend? I remember the time in the bookstore when I was trading in and buying books. Money scarce Dad had died And a voice called from shelf behind. "Give me a lift-I've got that book! My home's just a little drive." So I took his advice and reshelved physch We went off on our merry drive. When arrived, my then-friend said, "Just wait here, I'll be right back and save you a buck or two." I waited until car overheated then headed for his door. The door wide open and the back door too when in flight this then-friend con artist flew; left me helpless I was scared of thundrous drumming, afraid of summers darkening city; Had to think smart; heated car full blast, prayed until service station my car would last When reached the station I had only thirty-five cents (no plastic or checks). A young mechanic called out from behind, "Can I help you?" Man could he, could he ever. "My car's banging and steaming, but I've only enough money to buy you a pop." "No prob" he said,"the days been hot, a drink will taste mighty fine." In machine I dropped last quarter and dime Then handed cool drink with appreciative smile. He fixed car free of charge, no motives, no cons. Some people just give and others take at large [This message has been edited by Sadelite (05-07-2004 03:56 PM).] |

I always say, what comes around goes around...or what goes around comes around...something like that... eventually |

Hey Sadelite. Let me first say I love this. Oh yes I did. Enjoyed the journey fully. Wonderful tale you have related here...and whether it be true...or just the artist using poetic license matters naught. The moral here is truly what speaks to the heart. Yes there are people who take and take and give nothing in return...but there are those for who the opposite is true also. And if we can meet just one such individual...it makes it all worthwhile. I know such a man...and am fortunate enough to call him friend. Thanks for reminding me how special he is. Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history! |

Yeah, I've had my fair share of both situations, too. The good ones, though, they make up for all the bad experiences. Just as long as you stay safe... I love it, Sadie Always, Alyssa He was a man of sorrows |

Sadelite...What a touching story. So many people take advantage of others it is sad then you meet someone that really cares and tries to help others and it gives us hope that there is still good people in the world. Really enjoyed...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

Thank you so much, my poetic friends, for taking the time to comment. This started out as a down week and I just had to get this stress out. You all have been very helpful to me. I can't thank you enough. Things are moving very fast for me but should slow down in a few weeks. I really want to stop in and see all of YOUR work! I love hearing your thoughts. Can't wait until I can... Thanks again. Sadie |
