Fire is hot, isn’t it sweetheart? I tried to tell you that when you were growing up. But now you’ve had a touch of it. I can be no more to you than your mother, your friend. Don’t chastise me for doing what moms do. Don’t chastise me for loving you. When you were two and reached for the stove, I slapped your hand told you no. Telling you now to let him go. He’ll be back to hurt you more. It’s hard to see it happen so. I know you must learn yourself and it’s hard to stop what I do best. Scold me not for being me. Understand, you are free To make choices and learn for yourself. Just understand, a Mother’s love Holds you ever in a glove, woolen, soft, warm to catch You when you fall, wish you best, hope that you rebound it all. And most of all, Forgive. No, Most of all, Live. This is my belief, sweet pea, men are men and they will be. What you permit them to know determines what they will show. If you let them think you’re free, men are men, but boy’s they’ll be. They are guilty, hun, but it’s natural, it’s instinct with a man. Just like women’s instinct to nuture, men’s is to discover. Once they’s seen it all, they’re bored. So keep a few cards off the board. Love’s a game. Not a fight. If you want to win, hold your cards tight. If he’s worth it, it won’t be a plight. Make him honest, do him that favor. Hold your keys underneath the table. If it’s love, then he’ll be back. A real commitment, he won’t lack. Respect yourself, then he will see That respect is worthy of his. If it started wrong, it doesn’t get right. Close the door. Say goodnight. Wish him well. Never tell. Keep your Mystery. Allure. So that when you find the “One” The game will be all the more fun. He’ll spend his day wondering why he can’t get your twinkle Out of his eye. He’ll try hard as he can to connect with your soul But, you make him honest, sweets, Stick to your guns. If he’s a good one, he won’t run. He’ll win you over, but don’t let him know Until you meet his mother And his knees hit the floor! [This message has been edited by iliana (04-26-2004 10:20 PM).] |

![]() (big angel hugs) It breaks my heart how boys are taught when growing up to become void of emotion and be trained not to cry, sweet friend! (sad sigh) If boys can be taught that there is no shame in expressing their emotions and tears and enjoy nature in all its glory, the world would be a much more happier place and then both mothers and fathers can reach to their children with all dear heart! (sigh) There are indeed exceptions as there are plenty of good fathers out there, but there are so many that seem to feel little like a soldier for their children, God Bless You, this is gorgeous, you are a wonderful, sensitive mother and friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jo, thank you for sharing! ![]() May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "You'll find something that's enough to keep you |

This reminds me of the things my mother once told me.. I'm happy there are mothers like her, and like you, in this world. Truely. ![]() |

You speak the words that many a mother would love to find! ... but many a daughter won't listen to! .... until they experience their own lessons of life. Still, I am sure it is important that mothers TRY to make them SEE. This is a wonderful write. And let's hope that those who should listen, will listen! Love and hugs. Margherita ![]() |

Very good words of wisdom....a lot of them sound like my Mother to me...and then me to my daughter. I believe if the right words are said, with love,...like in your poem.....they stick...even when the child may stray from them, they are still in the heart. Thanks for sharing this. ![]() Hugs, Ethel |

More mother's need to say this and stick to it with their children... I know my mother could use a few lessons on it. Err, that aside... I love this! Full of truth and wisdom. ![]() Always, Alyssa He was a man of sorrows |

this is simply wonderful iliana, the words were very simple yet expressive. your poem can certainly get away with using the simplest words, and flowing so elegant still. good job! ![]() |
