You came in slow and easy this molasses spring, so unhurried, so effortlessly, you slipped your tender heart-leaves into the wind, ready to rustle songs and stories of all you’ve seen, of all you’ve known. Even your berries are tightly bound, unwilling to release their cotton seed, averse to travel Kansa winds, reluctant to leave mother. Lush is all about the roots of your trunk, for measured and steady the rains have come, feeding your hold on my mind, but the promise of your shade grows, and I shall sneeze, soon enough… but for now? For now, I beseech you… promise me a long, easy, summer. |

Ah, PK...the Kansa winds are quite well known... the spelling is correct! Vicky, my dear, so good to see you in the blue... I'll try to keep that promise, Enchantress... JM? You bet! Beki, thank you so much, dear! Philip, I don't know if perfect, but a good second, hey? *smile* Dixie, I always appreciate your comments. Thank you! LR - ponderous? Hmmm, that's heavy! LOL... Ethel, it HAS been a slow, cool spring. Which is FINE with me! LOL...Jo, isn't it the truth? When the "snow" begins to fly, I can barely go outside! Azblond, thank you! Oh Sadie, I like that! Thank you dear! |

To be honest, this season hasn't come here yet! The poem, however, is more beautiful than the humidity could ever be. |

Ah, my fiance Rick must read this. He's from MO., and terribly allergic to cotton wood trees! promise me a long, easy, summer. Oh yes, please. That would be heaven sent, wouldn't it? Made me smile with this beauty of a poem, Karilea. Corinne |

This is beautiful! I miss reading here. You remind me of why I need to come back more often. What a great first read I had. "You came in slow and easy this molasses spring" I love these spring days and the idea of: "songs and stories of all you’ve seen, of all you’ve known." Seasons do seem to speak to us. But, I too await the summer time. It's such a nice process - from Spring to Summer as we see the change of season. |

Your flow of words rivals the season's beauty. You do come up with the loveliest turns of phrase. KJ Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |

I loved this, Karilea, reminded me of growing up in Indiana. "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |
