There’s a wideness in the prairie That is beckoning to me To come and search of what I seek To feel, to hear, to see Within the width of endless plains Upon a land untreed A man is but a passing breeze A tumbling tumbleweed No shuttered rooms to life confine Beneath an open sky, I’ll seek of wideness evermore, Until the day I die. Until the day the tumbleweeds Cease tumbling to and fro And breezes find of what they seek and of wideness I shall know. |

For here beneath the bluest skies where herons fish and meadowlarks sing I find myself a'wandering and all the wideness pondering... |
