Sometimes I get so discouraged. It just seems like I don’t learn a thing. Hard on myself you say? Maybe you just don’t see what goes on inside of me. I know the dark recesses, and there is a certain air of smugness in those shadows. Always thinking I can handle whatever Until faced with lonely forever Settle… settle.. sit..stay.. it’s all the same. More of the same.. I feel myself at times Inane. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ inane \In*ane"\, a. [L. inanis.] Without contents; empty; void of sense or intelligence; purposeless; pointless; characterless; useless. ``Vague and inane instincts.'' --I. Taylor. -- In*ane\"ly, adv. "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |

I'd rather be "inane" instead of "insane"! Inane moments pass far more readily than does insanity! lol Interesting write! EA P.S. And yes, you probably are way too hard on yourself! |

LOL no, no, no... Being inane means you KNOW you are void of substance... Being insane you have no clue...and personally I prefer ignorance!! "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |

How well you speak of a velvet self, and I am pleased to see the concepts light this page, for this is truly human...and of far more substance than you might first pass. Well done Susan. TD |

I think at some time all of us have felt that empty feeling...your words capture it perfectly... |

Hard on myself you say? Maybe you just don’t see what goes on inside of me. sometimes we strive for perfection so much so, that we might have a tendency to set ourselves up for failure? I've heard it said, we should always reach for the stars...adding, one step at a time..remembering sometimes, for two steps forward we take some back....but...you have captured this strongly and most assuridly I believe artistic people struggle with a sort of anxiety (for a lack of better words) to create,,,it's like those creative juices are always flowing and willing to keep you awake if need be???? Enjoyed your painting this feeling very well. |

Thank you all with your more than kind responses. What I struggle with most is my need for the special people in my life to be how I want them. I know that is unreasonable...hence, I struggle.... "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |

My dear friend, you are not the only one who has felt this and in your sharing you allow us all to know that we are not alone. Hugs Gal. |
