What wellspring exists for this arrogance?
Such sense of entitlement's both unfair and unattractive
Even if the beautiful people do whisper your name

For you, I'm shamed.

You're convinced the universe revolves
Because you give permission,
Believe you do no wrong
And adoration is but your due

Why?

The same man loves us both

But!

I look at him with admiration
You leave him feeling inadequate
Is he chameleon?
Am I unaware?

Or do you never see past your needs
To another's plead

Even knowing you're all he wants
I offer this poor substitute -
My heart filled with love

You baffle me

I am your sister
And we're different species

Wow Suthern,  this is good.  Funny,  I have
a brother,  used to drive me totally insane,
one step shy of strangulation or some other
vile act....

He thought like that too...

Magnus: Bless you... I was so unsure about this! *S* Thank you for liking... and understanding! *S* Fortunately, I also have the world's greatest sister... so there's balance. *S*

Excellent.  I too have seen this.  Most sad and very frustrating.

I watch my daughter-in-love and her sister "go at it" one minute and the next they are and always will be best friends.  Having no siblings this baffles me to no end, but the line about what makes them think they are "entitled" I have heard up here Nicely done - hope you also are best friends too.

Wow ~~ just plain old-fashioned Wow! This poem hits so hard, has such a universal theme and such a clear eye for that universal relationship of family yet not family.

I've had the same feeling about each of my siblings from time to time, but I'm only seeing it after shining this spotlight on it. Library? Yes!

Dont think for a minute he doesnt see that.

(and besides who else does he trust his corn and pickles to?)

( oh I just had to)

you wrote this so well the reader feels like they walked in the room during a private conversation.

whats that old saying...
we can choose our friends but not our family.

now that's confidence!  This was a gripping account worded so elequently yet, taking the reader to a place that some of us are not familiar with.  Bittersweet, many hugs sent your way.

Jamie: There is a saying that friends are family you choose for yourself... In THAT family, I've only shining jewels, making up for my family's firstborn lump of coal. *S* Thank you so much... you truly honor me!! *S*

JM: Oh NO you didn't!!! LOL Curses on you... and your little corn, too!!! *G* Thank you, lady... so very much! *S*
