As a dream that arrives with so little fanfare,
could be easily missed were we not so attuned,
to the shifting of light emanating from skies
set a-glow by a radiant phase of the moon.

Where imaginings move to a cadence that's set,
re-enacting a dance that's as old as the stars,
on a stage to reflect, on what might, otherwise
then reveal certain traits of both Venus and Mars.

There appear, un-rehearsed, the most mystical scenes
that consistantly shift through a rainbow of hues.
Let philosophers seek for the how and the why,
and the poets entreat what they will of their muse.

From a pragmatists' view this surreal affair,
serves no purpose at all, and is going nowhere,
yet these dreams still persist which seems highly unfair,
paradoxically clinging to life from thin air.

You'd think that would be a paradox...surrealistic pragmatism, that is.

But it ain't.

I should know.

And I love your poetry for many reasons--first, it's always extremely well-crafted to the technicalities of the meter and so forth, but not so much it feels forced into the pattern. It's a subtle mastery and that is difficult to achieve.

Second, it's always intelligent and thought-provoking--and never obviously so that it seems condescending.

Third, you always have that undertone of humor, and as you prolly know, I love humor.

You are one of my "must-reads" m'friend, for all the above.

And this poem is a great example of everything I said.

"pragmatically surrealistic"

*chuckle*

It CAN be done.

grin.

Robert,
Thanks, I'm quite sure we've never met, ( at least not in a literal sense) metaphorically,
perhaps. Please excuse my ramblings as nothing more than salve to a battered ego. To put it bluntly, I'd rather be fishing.

serenity,
My dear girl. Where would I be if not for you to butter up that battered ego of mine?
And, you get right to specifics! I am unworthy, by any stretch of the imagination,
and yet, your words give me hope. There will come a day when I might yet enlighten all of mankind with my mastery of the written word!
(Yeah, right!) Be well my friend.
