Your eyes reflect the sorrow, Of a troubled misspent life. A life of tears and hardship, Not that of a loving wife. I see the dark betrayal- And a heart oft broke and scarred… And the fear of further agony, That makes you act so hard. But if you’ll look, you too will see. That we are much the same- My hardness serves to mask a heart- That’s known its share of pain. The scars upon my body- Cannot hold a candle to… The ones within, beneath the skin- Which sear me through and through. So let us sit together, I would like to hold your hand. Pretend that you’re my woman, Won’t you let me be your man? I’m asking you for nothing- But a kindly word or two… To help me pass the evening Which, till now has been so blue. I do not want your number- You don’t have to take me home. Your last name doesn’t matter… With the daybreak I’ll be gone. Let’s merely drink our coffee- Make a little casual chat. Treat me with some kindness- Girl, there’s nothing wrong with that. Thank you for your kindness… Now it’s time to say goodbye; Why, darling, what’s the matter? There’s a teardrop in your eye. |

This speaks of lonely hearts wanting yet afraid to grasp. It is sorrowful and expresses deep longing to me. Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |
