In your dreams

You always wore that hat.
The off-white sun viser.
Inside
outside
In the rain
In the sun
When it was windy
Or when it was not.

There was white when you took it off.
A place where the sun did not touch.
But still,
you were...
wonderfull,
or even
beatiful.

It had to been your smile
Or maybe your gentle charm.

Touching poem. It's those subtle things you cherish the most and miss the most. My wife once told me that if I passed on things like my ball caps, hats, boots, flannels, she would keep them all. I guess it's kind of like smelling my sons blanket when I haven't seen him for a couple of weeks. Things like the hat in your poem are attributes we take in on a personal level trying to absorb a piece of them into us. Strange phenomenon. We don't really talk about it but we all do it. You write about it very well here. I appreciate it. It makes me think about those subtle things I cherish in my wife and loved ones.
