Ellipse of days
Such that they curve
Through memory and now
Sun spotted in black on too bright
That leaves me wandering not quite
In straight lines or even arcs
But in a slow part circle
One step of when followed by an if

Old leather binds pages
And too many exposures to the damp
Have bent them in their own elliptical warp
Yet pages cowering inside
             Reveal more clearly flat fears
And lack of words spoken when
“soft from lips pleading”
might have made someone turn
   someone stay

I find myself willing to fold even these
Times along the edge of happy into
Some origami figure
                                   Just to add texture
And dimensions

Tell me
Do paper flowers count?
And if they do, might these
Pages and words be turned into some bouquet
That in presenting
I found too the curve of you
To fit
                        With mine?

Do paper flowers count...that's one of the best lines I've ever read.

I have it on excellent authority
that indeed, paper flowers
of any kind
count.

*insert audible sighing icon here*

I used to make paper flowers.
And yes, they do count.

There's a place I like to hide-open your mind to me-Visualise your dream- Record it in the present tense, I am smiling next to you, in silent lucidity

I am intrigued by this sort of language. Reading this was like reading cummings...it is the use of such language that makes this poem outstanding in my mind...if ee could read this he would smile..
Thank you, much enjoyed

Cowering pages afraid to reveal their true meaning?

Amazing.

The pages on which you spill your inked eloquence, become paper flowers to be enjoyed far beyond a summer's season.

and the paper flowers turn into real roses, an entire garden, by the mere magic of your words.

Trememdous poem and structure...

Good evening C. The keepsakes of a poet's paper moments, and fleshly ones as well..enthralling shapes and twists.

Enjoyed the read, electronic posting is a poor substitute for the feel of paper, yet one must adapt with the times...
