Metamorphosis Dedicated to each partner in the one-in-three marriage breakdowns, which occur in Australia and many other countries. I have attempted to portray in free verse the emotions I perceive that each partner in many broken marriage might feel towards the other. Happily, I do know many couples who don’t feel such emotions and who maintain friendly relationships, even after divorce. by Patrick Talty -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When did it start, where will it end: the metamorphosis that changed you from Dante (or Beatrice) to dung beetle? Don’t know the answer to what has filled my eyes with icy streams, has sprayed my pristine heart with snowflakes, and clouds from a stormy sky. I don't blame you; you are not to blame for my bad judgment; blame covers me like a leaking raincoat. I should have sensed the truth of you, the insubstantial youth of you, and the many lies that love and trust made me accept as passing aberrations. I like the terms of reference in this , particularly the compuspeak references. It's amazing that such an emotional subject can be put down in words so logically ordered. Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |
